Physical Conditioning

Exercise Physiologists can provide comphrehesive physical assessments and re-assessments to establish and monitor levels of physical capacity. An assessment is performed and an exercise program is desgined with consideration of all medical history and previous injuries to ensure injuries are not aggravated and exercises are performed correctly.

A suitable exercise program is tailored to each individual to include functional exercises and education. This assists in promoting correct body mechanics and preventing re-injury.

Following initial physiotherapy treatments, exercise physiologists can upgrade exercises under close supervision to ensure functional and individual exercises are completed with a safe, correct technique and that the optimal outcome is achieved. Keeping in close contact with the treating physiotherapist and other health professionals means that a more holistic approach to rehabilitation is achieved. Progress reports and regular updates can be provided to all involved.

Other information may also be provided to the patient either incidentally during exercise sessions, or in a specific educational environment to promote healthy living and safe movement patterning in order to prevent further illness or injury.
